Fabric server hosting
Fabric is the lightweight mod loader: quick updates to new Minecraft versions, performance mods like Lithium, and many Modrinth packs. On Chunkly, Fabric runs on Kingdom Premium at €1.90/GB per month, from 4 GB (€7.60). Village Budget at €0.85/GB is for Vanilla, Paper, and Purpur, so it cannot run Fabric, and neither can the free Campfire tier.
Fabric worlds stay running because modded servers are slow to boot. Install a pack from the Modpacks tab or upload your own mods with the file manager. Friends join name.play.chunkly.net with the same mods installed.
Fabric, Forge, or Paper
Pick the loader your mods or pack were built for. A Fabric mod does not load on Forge, and the other way round. The pack page always says which loader it needs.
Fabric suits light modded play, new Minecraft versions, and performance mods. Forge and NeoForge carry most of the big kitchen-sink packs; see Forge hosting. If you only want plugins such as EssentialsX or WorldGuard on a normal client, that is Paper on cheaper Village; see Paper hosting.
Some Fabric mods are server-only, such as performance mods, so friends can join with a plain client. Most content mods need the same mod on every client.
Install Fabric on Chunkly
Two ways in: a ready pack, or your own mod list.
- Pick a Kingdom size on plans.
- Create the world and choose Fabric with your Minecraft version, or open the Modpacks tab and install a Modrinth or CurseForge pack that uses Fabric.
- For your own mod list, stop the server, open the Files tab, and upload the mod jars to the mods folder. Fabric API is a mod too, and most mods need it.
- Start the server and read logs/latest.log if a mod does not load.
- Give your friends the same mod list or pack version, then share name.play.chunkly.net.

Fabric itself is light. The mods and the number of players decide the size.

When the pack page lists a server RAM figure, follow it. You can change size later in the Stripe portal; the world stays, and the new RAM applies after a restart. More in the RAM guide.
FAQ
Can Village run Fabric?
No. Village runs Vanilla, Paper, and Purpur. Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge need Kingdom at €1.90/GB, from €7.60 a month for 4 GB.
Does a Fabric server sleep?
No. Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge stay running because they are slow to boot. If you press Stop, the world stays stopped until you press Start.
Can I install Modrinth packs?
Yes. The Modpacks tab installs Modrinth and CurseForge packs and sets the loader. Steps are in the modpack docs.
Do my friends need the mods?
For content mods, yes: everyone needs the same mods and versions. Server-only mods, like many performance mods, do not need to be on the client.
