How Friends Join Your Server
Connecting to your world using your custom Chunkly vanity hostname.
1. Locate Your Server Address
In your Chunkly Panel, select your world. At the top of your dashboard, you will see your server connection string:
Tip: If your port is 25565, players only need to type myserver.play.chunkly.net without the colon.
2. Add to Minecraft Multiplayer
- Launch Minecraft Java Edition with the matching game version (e.g. 1.21.4).
- Click Multiplayer from the main menu.
- Click Add Server at the bottom.
- Enter a name in Server Name (e.g. “Diamond SMP”).
- Paste your Chunkly address into Server Address.
- Click Done, select your server from the list, and click Join Server.
3. What If The Server Is Asleep?
On Paper and Vanilla servers with sleep enabled, your server may show as offline in your multiplayer list when empty. This is normal!
Simply double-click to connect. The initial join will trigger the wake-on-join daemon. The server boots into memory in ~15–30 seconds and logs you in automatically.
Troubleshooting Connection Errors
Go to the Chunkly Panel and verify your server status says “Online” or “Sleeping”. If it says stopped, click the green Start button.
Ensure your Minecraft client version matches the server version (e.g. 1.20.4 client cannot join 1.21.4 server unless the ViaVersion plugin is installed).
